Julien Lewin is a Dean's List student at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, working on his major in Economics and minor in Asian Studies. There, he is a Division III NCAA varsity golfer.
He is the co-founder of Manatee Aquatic in Seattle, a company that removes invasive aquatic weeds from lake front properties. In his first year of operation, his company had a profit margin of more than 55%. He oversees this business remotely when at Bates College, working with his partners to reach out to new clients with a projected Y-O-Y growth of 300%. This business will become fully licensed with permits and a L.L.C. by May 2018.
Julien has developed a product that he hopes to bring to market by 2019. He was awarded a grant to pursue his idea by a panel of Bates alumni, leading angel investors, and venture representatives. He is filing for a patent during the summer of 2018.
Julien is passionate about giving back to the community. He was a successful leader in a philanthropic effort at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The project focused on creating calendars and cards that showcased the sacred gardens—executed by his high school photography club and which raised funds to support uncompensated care.
